The Blue Bus is pleased to present a reading by Laurie Duggan, Angela Gardner and Elizabeth James at The Lamb, 94 Lamb’s Conduit Street, London WC1, in the upstairs room, on Tuesday 18th August, 7.30. This is the twenty-ninth in THE BLUE BUS series. Admissions: £5 / £3 (concessions).
Elizabeth James’ publications include 'Neither the One Nor the Other', written in collaboration with Frances Presley (Form Books, 1999, and reprinted in Frances's collection 'Paravane' (Salt, 2004)), and ‘Base to Carry’ (Barque Press, 2004). Her poems have been anthologised in 'The Reality Street Book of Sonnets', edited by Jeff Hilson (2008), and her sequence 'The Animation Shop' was published as a insert booklet for the CD 'Reality Fandango' by Adam Bohman and Roger Smith (Emanem, 2007). '2 Rengas', long poems written in collaboration with Peter Manson, appeared in 'RENGA+' (Reality Street, 2002).
Angela Gardner was born in Wales and now lives in Australia. Her first book, ‘Parts of Speech (Selected Poetry)’, was published by University of Queensland Press in 2007. Her latest book, ‘Views of the Hudson’, will be officially launched by Shearsman in October – but she’ll be giving a sneak preview of it at The Blue Bus. Angela is a partner in light-trap press, which publishes the on-line poetry journal foam:e (www.foame.org) as well as fine press publications of collaborations between printmakers and poets. She is a practising visual artist with works in national and international public collections.
Laurie Duggan moved to Faversham from Australia in 2006. His most recent books are ‘Compared to What: Selected Poems 1971-2003’ (2005), a new edition of the documentary poem ‘The Ash Range’ (2005) and ‘Crab & Winkle’ (2009) - all of these published by Shearsman. He adds these pertinent facts: he has recently been seen in the vicinity of The Lamb; and he owns some art works by Angela Gardner.

Voiceworks 2009
There will be a performance of the Voiceworks 2009 compositions this week at 13:00 on Thursday April 30th in the Music Hall in the main School building of Guildhall School of Music and Drama (Silk Street Entrance).
This is the third year of this collaboration between CPRC Birkbeck poets and Guildhall composers, singers and musicians.
The concert is free, and there is no need to book tickets - just turn up.
[There will be a second performance in the Wigmore Hall on Thursday May 7th, at 18:00 for 45 minutes - this will also be free to attend, but will require that tickets be booked in advance (this is very simple to do, and again, costs nothing).

Perdika Poets - 28th April
Just to let you know that Perdika Poets will be reading at: Trinity College, Cambridge this Tuesday, April 28 at 8 pm. The venue is the Old Combination Room. Admission is free, and wine (also free) will be available in the interval. This year we shall be launching a very exciting first collection, The Small Stones, by the young Jersey poet Tomas Weber. (Perdika subscribers will be receiving their copy shortly). Mario Petrucci will read from his extraordinary i tulips sequence, as well as from his vivid and playful versions of Sappho. Jacqui Rowe will read from her forthcoming collection of Apollinaire translations, and Nick Potamitis and Peter Brennan will present highlights from their Perdika publications. We very much hope that you will be able to attend!
