Greenwich Festival July 14th-16th
There will be a celebration of women's innovative poetry & cross-genre work, organised by Carol Watts (Birkbeck University) & Emily Critchley (Greenwich), taking place this summer at the University of Greenwich in London. The dates are July 14th-16th.
Confirmed poets & speakers so far include: Caroline Bergvall, Andrea Brady, Elizabeth Jane Burnett, Mairead Byrne, Jennifer Cooke, Corina Copp, Emily Critchley, Carrie Etter, Robert Hampson, Edmund Hardy, Susana Gardner, Lisa Jarnot, Daniel Kane, Frances Kruk, Francesca Lisette, Marianne Morris, Jennifer Moxley, Redell Olsen, Holly Pester, Frances Presley, Luke Roberts, Lisa Robertson, Sophie Robinson, Rebecca Rosier, Lisa Samuels, Eleni Sikelianos, Juliana Spahr, Zoe Skoulding, Harriet Tarlo, Cathy Wagner, Carol Watts & Sara Wintz.

The Parasol Unit Readings Series continues on Thursday, 4 February, 2010 at 7 pm with a reading by Peter Riley.
Peter Riley was born in Stockport in 1940. He was an editor of The English Intelligencer and the editor/publisher of Poetical Histories. Passing Measures, his selected poems, was published by Carcanet in 2000, and The Day’s Final Balance: uncollected writings 1965-2006 was published by Shearsman in 2007. His most recent book, Greek Passages (Shearsman, 2009) is a set of 105 prose-poems derived from four sojourns in Greece. Mark Scroggins has called Riley’s work “an extraordinary poetry, one which takes the techniques of modernism to almost a certain limit, yet retains the entire lyric and emotional intensity of the English tradition.”
Parasol Unit is located at 14 Wharf Road, London N1 7RW, between Old Street and Angel tube stations. Parasol Unit readings are organized by Barry Schwabsky. They are free to the public. More information at http://www.parasol-unit.org/.
