29th November -- Goode

Chris Goode's _The History of Airports: Selected texts for performance 1995-2009_ will be launched at a special event this Sunday, November 29th, at Stoke Newington International Airport. The event will feature readings from the book by collaborators past and present (and, hopefully, future); followed by a screening of Johan Grimonprez's extraordinary documentary _dial H-I-S-T-O-R-Y_, which continues the airport theme by attempting a sort of political history of the second half of the twentieth century through its international airjacking incidents.

The readers / performers for the event will be: Harry Gilonis, Chris Goode, Sebastien Lawson, Jonny Liron, Tom Lyall, Finlay Robertson, Theron U. Schmidt, Rajni Shah, Davina Silver and Jamie Wood.

The reading starts at 8pm (doors 7.30) and costs just £5. (LEAN UPSTREAM season ticket holders are very cordially reminded that this event is not covered by their season tickets. Sorry.) Free wine, up to a point; once that runs out, BYOB.

Venue: Stoke Newington International Airport, Unit F, 1-15 Leswin
Place, Stoke Newington, London N16 7NJ
Tickets on door only
Venue web site: http://www.stkinternational.co.uk

Please come if you can -- bring a friend -- forward this email or redistribute the data as munificently as you wish -- & help us celebrate the end of the LEAN UPSTREAM season with maximal joyousness.

POSITIVE ACTION present A BENEFIT for U-TURN

Start Time: Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 7:30pm
Location: The Victoria, Mile End

The U-Turn project is a Bethnal Green based charity that is both under exposed and under funded. Its main aim is to help and work with “vulnerable and hard to reach women of all ages who have been trapped in the cycle of prostitution, drug addiction, physical abuse and homelessness from a young age”. U-Turn offers them “an opportunity to self-determine their future in their own communities”. Their main mission is to “support women who have suffered cruelty and abuse and encourage them to make sustainable changes in their lives.” U-Turn helps to try and change these forgotten women’s lives around.
